Slip 'n' Slide.
In all seriousness, I always have a pocket poncho in my backpack and a pair of mud boots.

anyone have any special ideas to be well prepared for rain? Most importantly make sure your tent is protected - tarp under, rain hood, troublesome seams sealed with some Coleman seam goop, and stake down (remember to tie bright cloth on those tie-downs so spunnies won't trip on them!). A flooded tent sucks. A flooded tent that has been blown to the next isle over because some spunion has taken out your tie-downs when he tripped over them sucks more. And contrary to the commercials State Farm with not be there, but good neighbors will be. Zip-lock baggies for essentials, poncho(s), good comfy sandles/flip-flops, umbrella (but only if it's brightly colored or has a sweet design on it. don't be bringing some black staunch umbrella and harsh my umbrella vibe.)

Slip 'n' Slide. In all seriousness, I always have a pocket poncho in my backpack and a pair of mud boots. Saw a slip n slide made out of five or six tarps at Bonnaroo. Since it wasnt raining they were using soap and when people went off the ends their chests would just hit dry dirt. Like sand paper on the guys nipples.

yes, great thread. In all the years, I've festie'd, I've never had the misfortune of having a rain'd out weekend. That being said, I always come prepared... Two of everything, hand warmers and ziploc bags of multiple sizes. Most importantly though, I'll bring a GOOD ATTITUDE - which trumps most bad situations.

i've found the most ideal camping setup for myself is as follows:
* tent w/ queen sized air mattress * large blue tarp under tent * EZup erected over the tent * large silver tarp hung on the east side of the tent to avoid morning sun * battery-powered fan hung in the mesh basket above the air mattress
not only does this setup protect me from sun and heat, but the EZup/tarps keep the rain out as well. also, i would highly recommend setting up your tent in your backyard on a sunny day, scotch-guarding it, and let it set in the sun for a few hours. it'll keep your goods extra protected. i also keep EVERYTHING in my camelback/backpack in ziplocks no matter what. makes it easy to compartmentalize, and you're less likely to lose stuff.

Great advice and I will add that air mattresses and COLD air do not mix well.
bring extra blankets so if it gets cold you are not just sleeping on a bed of cold air.

LOL Ashley, this was my exact set-up last year. I finally broke down and bought a 2nd pop-up. PROTECTED. With that beautiful weather it really didn't matter too much. Overcast till noon makes for some niiiice sleeping. Wake up -> pee HARD -> iced coffee -> bloody mary

unfortunately the last time i hit up Rothbury i was having to borrow equipment to cut back on what i had to fly with. so i just had the single tent with no kind of cover. the weather was so nice it wasn't really necessary until late night/early morning came. then i was FREEEEEEEZING and covered in dew

Just strip off all your clothes & run naked thru the rain... If a small parade of ppl rain by me naked at EFF, I honestly prob wouldn't flinch. I might shrug my shoulders or raise my brow, but that'd about be it. Crazy things abound in the lot.

Gathering of The Vibes 09 was my first festival. It down poured on Thursday during DSO, there was a thunderstorm 45 minutes into moe., so they had to stop playing, and Sunday there was a thunderstorm an hour into Crosby, Stills and Nash, so they had to end early. I hope we don't get a ton of rain at EFF, but I'm sure it will rain at least once during the 4 day weekend.

In my experience, the more prepared you are for it the less likely it will. Law of the music festies I bought mud boots last year for another fest and was amazed at the difference they made in my experience! I couldn't imagine doing a fest without them now!
