I figured I should start this thread. I was never at any of the rothbury fest and regreat it ever since. Never went cause all my friends at the time were lazy bums. After hearing so many stories and doin some festin last year I figured Id treat myself to some nice livin at a fest and go frontier style I mean we only live once right? Cant wait for some cheese its been 6 long years me.

My girl and i did VIP in the forest both years. The perks are well worth it if you have the extra scratch. I'm leaning towards Good Life again this year, but it won't be in those swank condos ;-(

I'd love to do VIP (planning on it for other fests), but can't swing it here.......although.....if I win the lottery, anything is possible!

it's really a tough call if you are doing a bunch of fests. I used to subscribe to the thinking that 2 or 3 fests a year going GA is better than only doing 1 VIP. Having done GA time and again, I'm now happy to just do one fest VIP. But it's really a personal choice. Go ALL OUT at one fest? Or try and hit a bunch of festies on the budget?

I'm a GA junkie. I couldn't imagine life anywhere else. I've made some great, lasting friends in the lot.

I'll be in the refugee camps with all the other GAers; and I wouldn't have it any other way.

yea I made that choice this year blaise. This is my only planned fest because of VIP prices. I did the budget last year and it was a blast. I got a bunch of friends doin GA so I know I'll be out wonderin around there also. You do have some great times in GA at night though. Hippie fishing with some line tied to glowsticks is one of my fav's. Watch out cause ill deff be pullin this in the forest hhaha

I'm camping in VIP. My first time to the forest. Can vets tell about the VIP section & the camping there?

We're still waiting for the map. It's tough to say what the VIP camp will be like if for some reason they can't use the maplewoods. You CAN count on the obvious: clean air conditioned restrooms at the mainstage, air conditioned showers at the camp, more roomy spaces, a more chill vibe at camp from 4am-9am. The camp itself was more than 1/2 lawn and the remainder in the woods. IF the woods are part of the set up, it's pretty unique for a fest with this kind of lineup.

I have a few friends doing VIP and good life that asked us if we could. I could afford it, but I just can't justify it in my mind. That's just a ludicrous amount of money for weekend rental of a resort room or to sleep under trees/have AC bathroom, etc...at a music festival in the middle of no where.
$1500/person? wtf? Are you serious? I'll take a cruise, go to the Caribbeans, put a dent in the credit cards, feed 100 starving children for a month, etc.
Now, I'm not criticizing anyone who does decide to go that route. To each their own.
Besides that, the lot is just part of the experience for me.

yea i don't see many people going the way of the back 40 or frontier but $500 for the village is deff. worth it if you have a little extra money..getting two of those tickets is just about 1k witch we could of paid for but we went the way of the 10% layaway just so split it up a little.. so that makes it easier for the people that dont have the money all at once witch is nice to alot im sure.

yea you're right there will be ALOT of people and i forget not everyones broke like all the people that were bitching on facebook and what not about $30. its just not worth it to me to go to rothbury and stay inside a nice room tho. village vip is the nicest ill go for something like this.

How much would an 1,100 sq. ft. suite cost me for ULTRA plus VIP tickets? The two don't REALLY compare quite yet but as an example an ULTRA VIP is $500... Any hotel in Miami a suite that size would be easily $500+/night during ULTRA plus transportation all over the place... The really neat thing here though is that we know where the talent is going to stay for EFF. That is worth a couple bucks I suppose to many.

For some folks, this is their one vacation from the daily grind and it's a holiday......if I was only doing one fest, I may consider pampering myself with the luxuries of the Good Life. However, I'm a music junkie and I spend entirely too much money on music throughout the year to be sporting VIP at all the festies.....so I must pick & choose.....I choose VIP when I think it's most worth the value (for me). In this case, the weather & terrain at the Double JJ make it easy for me to skip out on things like A/C & showers. The best thing about VIP at any fest is the unannounced surprises....like knowning where the artists are staying or tasty unscheduled set of music.....and for some, those gems are worth any monitary price

People hammer on VIP almost universally thinking that I am paying for a shower. That annoys the hell out of me because it has nothing to do with the shower they just don't know what you get that cant be advertised for the most part. I wish everyone could try iT!
