saw the shpongleton at philly new years. did not make shpongle suck any less. although i can't blame him for trying to distract people from the fact that all he is doing is literally pressing play and letting his songs play out exactly like the cds

I love Shpongle, but the highlight of seeing them in a fest is walking through the crowd.
Moon people trying to divide sand by the number of grains in their fists.

I never really listened to Shpongle before the lineup announcement, but he's incredible.

Shpongle at the Tripole Stage at Roth 09 was amazing.
I'm sure the Shpongletron Experience will be just as good.

I'm sure the Shpongletron Experience will be just as good. in '09 it was a DJ set, right? and this year it's his own stuff? crystal method was like this; a DJ set you didn't really hear any of their stuff. seeing them 'live' you get all their hits.

That's not live. If it was live it would be the full band. He's on two turntables mixing his music - I don't see why you wouldn't call it a DJ set. None if it is being produced - he is djing his music.

None if it is being produced - he is djing his music. shpongle is kinda of a weird case in the world of electronic music. normally, a DJ set is when you are mixing records (other peoples, sometimes some of your own) and a "live PA" (what I meant when I said "live" before. just look on electronic lineups, often they will say "live" after the name of the performer, that does not mean that they are playing with a band) set is when you are playing your own tracks, through a program such as Ableton, and using equipment to manipulate it live, such as synths. shpongle doesn't "dj" in the sense that he mixes other peoples records, but, even though he plays all his own tracks, he also doesn't play live PA sets because he does not (normally) use extra equipment to manipulate his tracks live (just listen when you see him perform, they sound exactly the same as the cd versions). so I guess it just depends how you view what he does. didn't mean to make confusion with my earlier post, just wanted to point out that simon doesn't play the traditional "dj set"
